Packaging Industry Business Cases
  Glass plant diversification strategy (2010)

The project aimed at bridging packaging needs for diversification with agrobusiness expansion opportunities.
We identified a series of possible synergies between major packaging and food industry players.

Investment in a flexible bottle and jar glass line was a tangible result of this matchmaking project. The markets of sauces and condiments, converted fruit, jams and local products will be the first businesses to benefit.

Packaging food safety and consumer protection (2009)

After a product recall, a major fast moving consumer goods company asked us to assess their supply base with a full independent perspective.
In light of the latest EU GMP regulations and operational standards, we developed a diagnosis and evaluated the supplier base.

Recommendations were built to make their system more robust and less exposed to operational risks.

Business development and food safety systems certification (2009)

In the context of higher consumer protection requirements linked to tighter hygiene standards and legal obligations, we assisted a dozen packaging companies to reach the stringent BRC-IoP global standards.
From local medium-sized to global players, these evaluations included real and potential risks linked to their internal processes and infrastructure.
These companies are heavily exposed to international trade : these standards will enable them to strengthen their market position or enter specific market segments where the highest standards of consumer protection are a real must.

  Packaging R&D Process Workshops (2008)

For a packaging R&D lab in SouthEast Asia, we organized a series of packaging innovation process workshops. These working sessions hade a double objective. First, the team generated new ideas for the innovation pipeline of the R&D team. Then after short feasibility evaluations, the team presented packaging initiatives for general feedback. Finally, the team's innovation process was established, documented and shared for future use and reference.

 Packaging Opportunity Assessment (2007-2009)

We were asked to provide an in-depth market trends and opportunity analysis for a private equity company. Based on industry insights and our knowledge of the sector, market and operational risks were reviewed and assessed during the due diligence phase.
After the acquisition, we have been consulted by our client to provide market and technology advise. SMS (short market scouting) missions have also taken place to track market evolutions on a regular basis. The board is now evaluating an investment that will double the installed production capacity, as demand for this niche market application is exceeding current supply.

 Rigid Packaging Cost Management (2006)

To solve a profitability issue of a packaging operator, we were asked to evaluate its general industrial performance and specific price pre- and post- calculation systems.
Our methodology allowed our client to realize the importance of profitability measurements at order level and at market segment level. As a result, performance indicators were set up at various production stages and transparent reporting was put in place as a last phase of the project.

 Future Technology Potential Analysis (2006)

An American client in the polymer industry asked us to estimate the market potential of a new plastic material for a HOD (Home and Office Delivery) application.
We connected him to our network of contacts and potential clients to validate the interest in applying this technology with its new advantages.
